Tawingo Alumni Circle Campership Fund |
The Tawingo Alumni Circle Campership Fund was established in 1997, under the leadership of Alumnus Dave Noble ('78-'83). At that time a camper was identified as someone needing assistance to continue his Camp Tawingo experience. Since then we have committed to seven other children, supporting each throughout his/her years as campers at Camp Tawingo. The philosophy to support a child, not just with a one-year commitment, but throughout his/her entire Tawingo camping career was established through the internal sponsorships to which Tawingo has committed over the years.
Monies for this fund have been raised through personal donations and a silent auction held at our 40th Reunion, our 2004 Alumni Winter Weekend, and our 45th Reunion.
There are two ways in which to support the Tawingo Alumni Circle Campership Fund:
- by making a donation directly to the Fund
- by making a donation to AMICI. AMICI is a charitable organization which for 38 years has been sending children to 14 camps in Ontario, including Camp Tawingo. Indeed, last year 79 children were sponsored by AMICI. Over the last 15 years, Camp Tawingo has welcomed over 20 campers from AMICI!
Whether you wish to choose option 1. or 2., in each case, cheques ought to be made payable to the "Tawingo Alumni Circle Campership Fund", and mailed directly to Camp Tawingo. If you wish to have us send your donation on to AMICI, please let us know. AMICI will issue a charitable receipt for your donation.
Presently, the Campership Fund is under the direction of Barrie Laughton ('67-'05) and Liz (Abbott) Batch ('90-'92). For comments or questions regarding the Campership Fund, please contact us at
