Tawingo Talkback!

My 9-year old daughter just completed a one-week session at camp and loved it. She was very hesitant to attend summer camp, but on the way home in the car she said it was the best summer ever!

Day Camp FAQ
Day Camp is so much fun!Is there transportation from Huntsville?
Yes, there is transportation from the parking lot of the Huntsville Royal Canadian Legion on Veteran's Way for an extra fee of $40.00 per week. The children are picked up at 8:30 am and dropped off at 5:00 pm each day.

Are children required to bring lunch or is it included?
Camp Tawingo provides a hot lunch every day and it is included in the per week fee, as is a daily morning snack. Indeed, we ask that no food be brought to Camp by our Day Camp Campers since we must be sensitive to food allergies in some of our campers.

When does Day Camp start and end each day?
The Day Camp program starts at 9:00 am and ends at 4:45 pm Monday to Friday of each week offered.

Do Day Camp Campers participate in programs with the Residential (overnight) Campers?
The Day Camp Campers do not participate with the Residential Campers. Residential Camp operates on Standard Time so when Day Camp Campers start their program at 9:00 am Daylight Saving Time, it is 8:00 am Standard Time for the overnight campers and they will just be going to breakfast. The only time the two groups will be together is for one lunch in the dining hall. We like to have the Day Camp Campers experience a meal in the Dining Hall to see the Residential Camp in action and enjoy one of our wonderful Sing Songs.

What are Interest Groups?
Campers choose an activity from a variety of options. They are given the opportunity to sign up the day before. These groups will consist of both boys and girls of all ages. There is a fun variety of activities to choose from which includes archery, canoeing, soccer, fudge-making, crafts, frog-catching, drama, fishing, basketball, sandcastles, raft and snorkeling, clay pits, mountain hike, mini-putt, waterfront games, and many more.
